Standard 8: Reflection and Continuous Growth

means to me...

Reflect, Reflect, Reflect

Evaluation

Throughout my methods courses and student teaching experience, I have been observed numerous times, wherein the supervisors who observed me completed a Teacher Evaluation Form.  After the observations, I received immediate and meaningful feedback from collaborating with the supervisor to discuss the completed form.  The form contains the ten Utah Effective Teaching Standards, providing evidence that I am able to adapt my teaching practices to meet the learning needs of each student.

Monitoring student progress allows me to know where each student is with their understanding and development of the core content being presented.  Using DIBELS and exit tickets allows me to know if students are comprehending the curriculum.  Progress monitoring allows me to know if students need an intervention, a review, or to be challenged.  Using this information allows me to adapt my practices to meet the needs of each learner, ensuring that I and the students have continuous growth throughout the year.
