When planning a lesson, first selecting the standards and personal objectives. Knowing objectives before planning ensures the lesson is developmentally appropriate and contains an intended learning outcome, so students will meet learning goals. Lessons are easily prepared using a three phase learning guide or a five E lesson plan, ensuring that students are effectively supported as needed through each step of the lesson in a timely manner.
Students become self-motivated learners when they have an interest and are given opportunities to ask questions and discover. During instruction, students should have opportunities to lead discussions, provide examples, ask questions, and share experiences. As an instructor, it is my responsibility to encourage students to become self-motivated and guide them where and when it is necessary.
